Q&A: Are These Shoes Too Casual for My Wedding?

Q: I'm not the most stylish person. I want to look good while remaining comfortable on my wedding day, which will be outdoors in Charleston, SC. I'll be wearing a light grey, two-button suit, white point collar dress shirt, and a yellow and white striped tie. I got some awesome yellow and gray argyle socks for all the guys, but we don't have to wear them. I like Sperry, they're super comfortable and fun, but I'm not sure if they're too casual for a wedding. I also want to keep the price affordable for everyone. Thanks for your advice. --Seth

A: Thanks for writing in, Seth! I agree with you that boat shoes are a little too casual for your traditional suit. Since comfort and affordability are your main concerns, I've chosen a few options that are more relaxed than a traditional oxford, and, they're all versatile enough to work for the wedding and beyond.

You can't get much more comfortable than a dress shoe that has Nike Air Technology like those two-tone penny mocs. Memory foam and shock absorption technology keep the Sperry wingtips comfy all day long, while a padded insole makes the Kenneth Cole boots a good choice.

Of course, you could always go traditional and opt for a brown oxford. But, if you're willing to add some unexpected flair to your feet, these are good choices. The boots (usually $178) are even on sale for $79!
