Sneak Up on 'Em

You're set on wearing sneakers down the aisle, but your girl thinks they're too casual to work with your suit. Meet in the middle with these dressier versions, and leave your canvas Chuck Taylor's in the closet.

Hardware 007: HIdden Hue Rings

Why inscribe when you can infuse a ton of color into your wedding band? These hersteller bands are flashy in an incognito kind of way. Very cool.

Featured: Utterly Engaged Issue #17

The ladies at Utterly Engaged asked for my picks for ring bearers, and I was thrilled to be invited back after my groomsmen feature in Issue 16.
For Issue 17's "Growing Up" theme, I picked a Winter and Spring look for the littlest guy at the wedding along with some unconventional "ring pillow" options. In fact, they aren't pillows at all.

Fit To Be Tied: Pay It Forward

Tweeds and tartans are everywhere right now, as they should be this time of year. Read's Clothing Project has kicked off, and the company will donate a book to a child in need for every tie you buy. So, grab ties for you and the guys and feel good about it.

You can also warm up your winter wedding wardrobe with these or these.

Versus: Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner

The Twilight kids are back in full effect, making their way across the globe to promote Breaking Dawn - Part I. Ignore Kristen Stewart in this pic, and focus on the guys. Pattinson's sporting a a charcoal grey on grey look with a chocolate brown tie for contrast. Lautner's working a classic black suit/white shirt combo with a tone-on-tone checkered tie.

Well-Groomed Groom: A Date with Denim

This groom mixes denims like a pro. A light denim shirt with dark washed jeans is refined casual when paired with a tie and oxfords. But, don't worry. Things get back in the casual lane when the groom rolls the cuffs and forgets the socks.

W-G Engagement: Pink, Blue, and Warm All Over

It's that time of year, at least in MN, when short sleeves just won't cut it anymore. But, a tailored cardigan with a shawl collar is the more than enough to cut through the chill. Wool-y pink socks, a pink and blue checkered shirt, and grey Vans keep this guy's engagement shoot stylishly cozy without competing with the changing foliage. By the way, if you haven't embraced the "grandpa" cardigan yet, what are you waiting for?

Well-Groomed Groom: Hell Yeah!

This groom's tattoos say it all. The wool vest, purple checkered shirt, and plaid tie add the finishing touch to his sentiment. Feel free to take out your pre-wedding stress on the bride's bouquet post-ceremony. Not ready to get inked? Follow this guy's lead and get temporary knuckle tattoos for the big day.

Well-Groomed Groom: A "Cool" Update

Remember the "cool" tattoos on this W-G guy? He's showing off even more tats for his wedding. He's thought of every detail, including a gingham bow tie, pinwheel boutonnieres for the groomsmen, striped jacket lining, suspenders, and Converse. Check out the unique way he's wearing that pocket square, er, triangle.

Fit To Be Tied: Wintry Neckties

Bring your suit into the season with a simple tweak. Ties in corduroy, wool, and flannel add the texture that featherweight silk ties can't. There's no limit to the colors and patterns, so there's really no excuse for a cotton necktie in the middle of November.

Poll: Down With Brown?

Last week, I posted this Style Snapshot of a groom sporting a brown tux, which sparked this comment from an anonymous W-G reader.

Appreciate going outside the box, but I've been to 2 weddings in the last year with brown tux's. Combined with this one, I say 0 for 3. And I can hear them now when they look back at the pics in the years to come: "What were we thinking???" --Anonymous
I figured that Anon isn't alone in his/her/its feelings, so I thought I'd put it to a vote.
